Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri follows a mother who’s daughter was raped and murdered sometime prior to the events of the film. The police have no leads and have pretty much given up on the case until she purchases advertising rights on 3 billboards just outside of town. On these billboards she slams the police chief for giving up so easily on finding her daughters killer. This riles up the town and police force leading to a series of events that leave many injured, some dead, and a new set of leads in the search for the murderer.
Frances McDormand steals the show as Mildred, the grieving and angry mother of a murdered daughter. Also with fantastic performances from Woody Harrelson & Sam Rockwell.
The film is so beautiful to look at, incredibly well shot and edited. On top of that the dialogue is fantastic, it’s gripping and cuts deep, particularly when dealing with the issues surrounding the grizzly murder which forms the films central drive.
I can’t recommend this film enough for people in need of a great drama, but don’t expect anything high octane, just a lot of really well written dialogue and some gorgeous cinematography.
