It’s a rare occasion that a film series can knock it out of the park in each entry but How To Train Your Dragon is one of those exceptions. For a series that began 9 years ago with an amazing outing, to its 2014 sequel that is probably one of the best animated films around, and now in its 3rd and final instalment manages to pack in as much magic and care as each previous instalment.
It’s proof that even animation aimed at a child audience can be given as much care and attention as a full blown live action film, and still be a cash cow for merchandise. Dreamworks have outdone themselves yet again with such a touching and thought provoking film, and not pulled a Shrek the Third on it. Hats off to them and hopefully other studios follow suit.
Hiccups journey from timid teen to confident adult has been captivating to watch over the past decade and if they do decide to continue with the series in the future, hopefully it’s handled with the same care and attention that this trilogy has.
