Escape Room is a film that sets up an interesting premise and totally fails to deliver upon it. Though the film starts strongly, it’s a combination of weak and unlikeable characters as well as a horrendous third act and simply abysmal sequel bait ending that just go to show that this film is nothing more than a shameless studio cash grab.
The end result is a film that is trying to be the next Saw, but with none of the intrigue and hardly any interesting/bloody deaths. When the whole draw of the film is to see people die in elaborate ways, yet it fails to even do that, you know you’ve got yourself a stinker.
